According to my research, the average new home in the 1970's had 1500 square feet. In 2003, it grew to 2300 square feet. No surprise with the current economy and a more environmentally-friendly atmosphere, new homes are shrinking again. But that doesn't necessarily mean homeowners are disappointed.
